Work smart, not hard.
Burning fat is hard work. Freezing fat is not. The experts at the Fat Freezing clinic at Sunshine Coast know all about it. Even if you exercise regularly and eat healthily, some fat is too stubborn to go away no matter how hard you try. Millions of people all over the world struggle with unwanted kilograms. Sliming is not an easy task. We all heard about the yo-yo effect, aka weight cycling or unlucky gene, aka fat gene. Simply put, for some people, it is very hard to stay in good shape no matter how hard they try.
Humans experimented with cold temperatures as a treatment for a very long time. Ancient Egyptians were using cold therapies as early as 2500 BC to treat injuries and inflammation. Fast forward, in 400 BC Hippocrates found relief from swelling and pain by exposing affected areas to cold. Anglo Saxon monks, circa 1050 AD, applied cold as a local anaesthetic. However, the real change came in the XXI century…
Fat Freezing revolution.
It all started in 2008 when two American doctors – Dr Dieter Manstein and Dr Rox Anderson from Massachusetts General Hospital experimented with tissue exposure to cold temperatures. They got intrigued by the phenomenon called “cold-induced fat necrosis”. The observation revealed that they managed to reduce fat cells as a result of freezing, whereas other tissues would remain intact! They applied the freezing procedure locally with cold temperatures (from minus 8 to minus 10 degrees Celsius) to the body to trigger the breakdown of the fat cells underneath.
And so the fat freezing was born…
Commercial application of Fat Freezing.
Nowadays the technology has progressed way beyond ice packs and cold sprays. Freezing fat has undergone rigorous studies to determine its therapeutic value. Initial findings were so promising that Dr Dieter Manstein and Dr Rox Anderson decided to create the first commercial machine. Technology is always progressing. At present, Cryoskin is one of the most popular and advanced fat freezing devices on the market. The machine is able to deliver precisely controlled temperature to the treated area. It’s a non-invasive procedure that painlessly contours the body to produce remarkable results. Clients can notice significant fat reductions after just one session and after few appointments, they can see further reductions – up to 24%!
Approval by the therapeutic regulatory agencies.
The idea of freezing fat is gaining popularity all over the world. In the United States, Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved it in 2010. Since then, the treatments have increased by 823 per cent. The Therapeutic Goods Administration first approved cryolipolysis in Australia in 2015. It’s since then boomed in popularity and shows no signs of slowing down. Newly established clinics performed more than eight million treatments as of July 2019! In Australia and New Zealand, hundreds of clinics also noticed tremendous benefits of those “cold therapies”.
Fat Freezing is science, not magic – despite the presence of a wand.
Clients of our Sunshine Coast Clinic also welcomed this new technology.
The procedure itself is pretty simple. Cryoskin customers lie flat on a massage table while a trained technician massages any problem areas with an ultrasound-like device (a ‘wand’) set to a freezing temperature (-8 to -10 degrees Celsius). Initially, the technician sets the wand to a hotter temperature to bring fat cells to the surface of the skin. The extreme contrast when the wand switches from hot to cold causes shock and freezes the stubborn fat cells, which are then flushed out of the system in the following weeks. The entire procedure is brief, with multiple sessions — one every two weeks — recommended for optimal results.
Our treatment is proven to be highly effective at eliminating fat cells. We can customize it to painlessly contour your body to the desired shape, as opposed to other methods, which can pinch and pull your skin with cold clamps in a painful way which can lead to numbness and fat collecting in other areas.
It’s also a process that won’t put much of a dent in your savings!
What is Fat Freezing used for?
The non-invasive cryolipolisis process features applicators that effectively work on any body part. In our Sunshine Coast clinic, we successfully performed procedures on many body parts, for instance:
- Inner thighs
One of the most popular procedures is a CryoFacelift. It allows to rejuvenate and add elasticity to the face. CryoSkin technique can also be very effective in reducing cellulite. Between 80 and 90 per cent of women will probably experience cellulite in their lifetimes. As a result, it is not surprising that this cellulite removal procedure is another favourite among our clients.
What are the benefits of Cryolipolisis, aka Fat Freezing procedures?
Cryo’ means icy cold, and ‘lipolysis’ is the word for breaking down fat, therefore it’s a perfect name for what it is: fat freezing!
Clinical studies showed that Cryolipolisis can be a very effective procedure – reduction in fat at the treatment site can be up to 25%.
Main benefits include:
- It is non-invasive,non-surgical
- Visible results appear after as little as one session
- By many described as pain-free
- Timesaving – each fat freezing treatment takes up to 60 minutes for one localised area
- Compared to liposuction, we can perform Cryobody Revolution’s cryolipolisis treatments without anaesthetic
Why Freezing Fat became so popular in Sunshine Coast?
Many in Caloundra and the greater Sunshine Coast region have embraced Cryobody Revolution’s fat freezing treatments. They embraced the benefit of fat reduction without the need for scalpels and surgeries.
There are several reasons behind fat freezing’s increasing popularity, such as:

It should be noted that the treatment’s effectiveness appeals to people who are looking to reduce body fat but want noticeable results in the shortest amount of time.

An increasing number of people are turning to cryolipolisis to improve their wellbeing. They choose it over surgical and laser fat reduction alternatives.
Is Fat Freezing safe?
Cryoskin is a medical grade device that is registered on the ARTG and is used for cryolipolysis. The TGA is part of the Australian Government Department of Health and is responsible for regulating therapeutic goods including medical devices. It is continually tested and regulated through post market monitoring standards enforcement. Unlike other cryolipolysis treatments, Cryobody treatments are not painful. There is no use of suction cups, and Cryoskin will not damage any tissue or nerves. It will feel cold – similar to rubbing an icepack in the area. The chin can be the most sensitive area. For the best results, the experts from Fat Freezing Clinic at Sunshine Coast recommend that you should not eat carbohydrates two hours before or after treatment.
We do not recommend exercise prior to treatment but it can be beneficial afterwards to get the lymphatic system pumping.
Although it is not common, some of the side effects of Fat Freezing might include:
- Localised redness at the treatment area
- Soreness or tenderness
Would Cryotherapy be suitable for me?
Even though Cryotherapy is a non-invasive treatment, suitable for the majority, there are people who will most benefit from it:
- if there there is a particular area of stubborn fat – this procedure is not aimed at weight reduction, but it delivers tremendous localised fat trimming results
- clients who are moderately fit – in our Sunshine Coast clinic we noticed that the best results are achieved on people who are not significantly overweight
- people looking for gradual but steady results – it normally takes several weeks for the best results to fully develop
- People who are generally in good health – there are a few medical conditions which would make Cryotherapy not advisable – for more information, check our FAQ section.
